Biography

Hey there!

My full name is Hady Habib. I was born in Houston, Texas to my amazing parents; Suzy and Fady Habib. I also have a younger sister, Hoda, who played college tennis and is pursuing her PA degree. I’m a duel citizen to Lebanon and the United States.

I began playing tennis when I was 9 years old in Mtyleb, Lebanon. It started out as something I tried for fun. I was constantly active as a kid and played various sports before tennis took the drivers seat. It was clear basically from the first time I played that tennis is not only the game I wanted to play, it simultaneously became my dream to become one of the best players in the world. I had a natural feel for tennis and I outgrew my recourses in Lebanon by the time I was 12. This is when my parents sacrificed moving back to the US to help my sister and I reach our goals. I first started my high performance training in Southern California, and then moved to Florida to practice at IMG Academy. Despite my juniors career having a lot of success, I was also trying really hard to keep my grades up and leave the option open to attend college. I decided to go the college route, and recently graduated from Texas A&M University in May, 2021. I secured my bachelors degree in Sports Management, and I am pleased of my list of academic and athletic accomplishments.

Fast forward to now, I am fully invested in my tennis career. I love playing tennis, and know that this is what I was destined to do. Since graduation, I already captured three ITF Futures titles, and won singles and doubles at Arab championships. I missed the over the first half of the 2021 professional season while I was finishing up university. I jumped into the summer with nothing. Since then, I already obtained the ranking I need and proven myself to where I am going to start competing in ATP Challenger Tour. I’m excited for the future, but I also reflect on the year and realize how much I was able to do. I have done it 100% financially and physically on my own.

The next steps for the coming year would be to find a sponsor that could help me with travel and coaching. In order have the best chance to break the top 100, these are the normalities of the players I am surrounded by. My discipline and professionalism in my career, with the addition of aided structure, is the formula to maximize my talents!

Why Lebanon?

I choose home

“There have been an abundance of people who ask me why I chose to represent Lebanon, when I have a citizenship in the US. This always makes me smile, because for me that decision was easy. No matter what the country goes through, I am so proud to be Lebanese. Even if I am playing for myself, I feel like my success has often been driven to make Lebanon proud.  I carry the Lebanese flag with pride and I have had some of my best memories playing for the Davis Cup team”

“I have said it a million times that I am working towards being amongst the best players in the world. But this is just a piece to what my biggest dream is. I hope that my career and voice as a Lebanese athlete can inspire people in Lebanon that they too, have a chance if they put their mind to it. If there is any type of way I could give back to my country, I am willing to do it for its amazing people.”

“My family moved back to my childhood home in Mount Lebanon in 2019, where they’re happiest. It also makes me happy, where I can come back to my roots and be around my closest friends and extended family.”
